What is Nuclear Medicine?
Nuclear medicine makes use of low doses of radioactive materials to evaluate the function of various parts of the body. This imaging modality has been used to study most organ systems. Nuclear medicine examinations are available at Skagit Valley Hospital, Island Hospital, and United General Hospital. Some common nuclear medicine examinations include:

  • Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET-CT)
  • Bone Scan
  • Ventilation/Perfusion lung scan
